Universal Process Controller with DAC (Digital Actuator Control)

The Pyrometer Instrument Co. Inc., Northvale, NJ introduces its new KS 90-1 industrial universal controller which is an expert for complex process control tasks and comes in a particularly compact design. Functions previously associated with the ¼ DIN class are now available in the KS 90-1 in the 1/8 DIN Format!

One of these is the 2^nd process value input for thermocouples, Pt100, etc. that solves the following tasks easily with simple cost-effective wiring such as ratio process control, temperature controller difference control and inflow/outflow control without expensive supplementary equipment. Also part of the package is DAC (Digital Actuator Control), the function monitor for motorized valves with three-point stepping control. Disturbances are detected so early that expensive production downtimes and time consuming trouble-shooting are prevented. Typical disturbances are blocked actuator, a defective motor or capacitor, wiring faults, and all related problems. In addition, a total of 14 LED’s with function inscriptions provide status information of the controller and the process.

The Front interface for the Blue Control Engineering Tool provides utmost convenience during commissioning, maintenance, and remote diagnosis.

Selectable Control Outputs!
On the process controller output side, 4 relays with changeover contacts or 2 relays plus two analog universal outputs are freely available. Moreover, the KS 90-1 also features two additional digital outputs that are ideally suited for alarms, but also for temperature heating/cooling functions. Apart from up to four digital inputs, the controller also has an individually configurable second function key in the front panel.

When used in a PLC system, the precise operation of the stand-alone KS 90-1 industrial universal controllers helps to relieve the PLC, and thus ensures high plant availability, including emergency manual operation and on-site display functions. If configured as a ModBus master, one KS90-1 can operate several slave process controllers.
