Distance ratio
The distance ratio indicates the ratio between the distance of the pyrometer to the measuring object and the measuring field diameter at the focal distance. As pyrometers use the detected radiation within the measuring field to measure temperature, a larger distance ratio enables the measurement of small objects at a greater distance.
For a given measuring object size and measuring distance, the distance ratio is an essential selection parameter for a suitable pyrometer.
