In waste-to-energy plants, continuous, non-contact temperature measurement ensures uniform combustion and helps to ensure compliance with statutory emission limits, particularly for NOₓ. Pyrometers measure the temperature directly in the combustion chamber without being affected by wear, drift or damage, as is the case with thermocouples. This enables precise control of the fire pattern and combustion process, reduces fouling of the heating surfaces, and minimises maintenance requirements and downtime.
